The Road map to wellness

For over 20 years I have worked in healthcare under the model of preventing illness, checking for illness or managing illness.
There is no prevention in modern medicine. The closest to prevention is labwork and and cancer screening which are only checking for illness, not moving you towards wellness.

It is an optimistic vs pessimistic approach.

But, lets imagine the glass is half full

Humans are complicated. There are so many layers to people. Our histories, upbringing, health issues, social environment, belief systems, friends, the food we eat, the air we breathe, medications, street level, and on and on. 

So, it is really impossible to use the formula in conventional medicine to take this medication and feel better. Typically the medications are preventive like cholesterol medications or suppressive like depression medications. There is not really a medication that fixes it all. Just as there are layers to people, there are layers to problems. 

You are not a problem or a code. I can presribe you medication to help you towards weight loss, but it will not be all you need to feel well and feel the way you would like to feel. 


So how can we look at you as perfect? As a complete person full of flaws?

The root of the word perfect is from the Latin meaning finished or completed. So I encourage you to see yourself as not the problem. But to consider yourself as complete. Perhaps you need a little maintenance, but there is nothing wrong with you. 

You are not obese, but you are experiencing a challenge with your body that has stymied you for years. You need help fixing it. 

You are not depressed but are currently in a dark place and unsure how to get to the other side. 

It takes a village. Let’s look for delight, seek joy wherever we can find it
